Lessons Learned / Remote Inspections

• NRC working to collect and develop lessons learned regarding remote inspections

• Pre-view

- Modifications to inspection program necessary to accommodate site access restrictions

- Remote inspections are appropriate and effective in certain applications

- May require enhanced licensee support 3

Part 37 - Physical Protection of Category I/II Materials

• Goal is to fully incorporate Part 37 oversight into the Public Radiation Safety Cornerstone of the ROP

• Status

- Part 37 incorporated into the baseline inspection procedures (IP71124.08)

- Regional-based reactor HP inspectors have been trained

- Staff is developing SDP for Part 37

• Use enforcement policy until SDP is complete

• Goal to complete SDP by Fall 2020 4
