TERMINATION OF CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE NO. 9111
Dear Mr. Paquin:
Certificate of Compliance No. 9111 for the Model No. CNS 6-80-2 and CNS 6-80 2A packages expired on April 1,1999. Accordingly, use of the packages under the General License provisions of Subpart C of 10 CFR Part 71 or under the provisions of 49 CFR 173.471 is terminated.
in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 71.52, the packages were previously authorized to transport Low Specific Activity (LSA) radioactive material. However, Section 71.52 expired on April 1,1999; consequently, the certificate cannot be renewed. LSA packages and their use are now regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). For more information on LSA packages and their use, you may contact Mr. Richard Boyle in the Office of Hazardous Materials Technology at DOT. Mr. Boyle can be reached at (202) 366-4545.
