Dear Sir,

This Special Report is submitted in accordance with LaSalle Unit 1 Operating License NPF-11, Appendix A, and InSalle Unit 2 Operating License NPF-18, Appendix A, Technical Specifications 3.3.7.9 and 6.6.C.

Due to Unit 1 refuel design modification construction activities, it was necessary to remove the following fire detection zones from service as a conservative precaution to prevent spurious zone fire alarms due to extensive welding and cutting'in the areas.

The detectors out of service have exceeded the specified fourteen (14)

-i day criteria prior to requiring a Special Report.

Fire detection zone 1-2h was returned to service on June 12, 1986. Fire detection zones 1-2, 2-2, 1-22P, 1-17, and 1-22 will be returned to service prior to restarting Unit 1 from the first refueling outage.
