Wut 311987 The Honorable Albert Gore, Jr.

United States Senator 256 Federal Building Chattanooga, TN 37402

Dear Senator Gore:

Thank you for your letter of February 18, 1987 forwarding an undated letter from your constituent, Mr. Lindell D. Delius.

In his letter, Mr. Delius expressed concern that his safety concerns regarding M s nuclear facilities were not being addressed promptly enough by the NRC, TVA or the Department of Labor.

On February 12, 1987, apparently at about the same time he wrote to you, Mr. Delius contacted the NRC's TVA Project Staff and expressed a similar concern.

In response to his phone call, we looked into the matter and determined that Mr. Delius' concerns are included in TVA's tracking system for employee concerns. The staff of the TVA Inspector General informed us that their investigative work on Mr. Delius' concerns, within their area of responsibility, is completed and that they are in the process of drafting their report. TVA's Employee Concerns Program management, at our request, is preparing a matrix defining the status of resolution of Mr. Delius' safety-related concerns. After this is done, they will meet personally with Mr.

Delius to discuss the status of his various concerns. Mr. Oscar Demiranda, the allegation coordinator for NRC's Region II office, will be following TVA's activities in this regard for the NRC. This information was shared with Mr. Delius during a conference call with members of the NRC TVA Project Staff, NRC's Region II, and TVA's Employee Concerns Group on February 25, 1987.

I hope the above information responds to your needs and satisfies the concerns of Mr. Delius.

Sincerely, (Siewd) T. A Hohm ctor Stello, Jr.
