May 5,1999 STATE LIAISON OFFICERS NATIONAL STATE LIAISON OFFICERS' MEETING As you know, the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) sponsors a Nationai State Liaison Officers' Meeting at NRC Headquarters in Rockville, Maryland, every three years.

The purpose of this correspondence is to inform you that the meeting is scheduled for December 1-2,1999. The NRC is undergoing many changes to its regulatory program. This meeting will provide an excellent opportunity for the State Liaison Officers (SLO) to review and discuss many of these initiatives with senior NRC representatives. As in the past, we will look forward to SLO participation in panel discussions. Your Regional State Liaison Officer will be contacting you within the coming months for your suggestions for agenda topics.

As sponsor of the meeting, NRC will fund your travsl and per diem expenses while attending the meeting. We will be providing you with a list of local hotels and other travel and logistical information in the near future. If you have any suggestions for the meeting, please do not hesitate to call me at 301-415-3340. I look forward to seeing you at the National SLO Meeting in December.
