TUBE STEEL MANUFACTURING DEFECTS SDAR: CP-88-28 (INTERIM REPORT)

Gentlemen:

On March 14, 1988, TU Electric verbally notified your Mr. R. F. Warnick of deficiencies involving cracks in the internal radii and wall thickness i

undersize in tube steel utilized for pipe supports. Subsequently the scope of the issue was expanded by TXX-88562 dated July 15, 1988 to include split seam welds for the same tubing. Our latest report rn this issue, logged TXX-88686, was submitted September 14, 1988.

The purpose of this report is to update the 4

status of the evaluation of this deficiency.

The testing and metallurgical examination of the deficient tube steel have I

been crmpleted.

The results of these examinations are undergoing final review.

The next report will be submitted no later than February 27, 1989, i
