I Assistant Associate Director Office of Natural arxl Technological Hazards SUa7ECT:

Exercise Report of the February 26, 1986, Exercise of the Louisiana Radiolcgical Dnergency Preparednesa Plans for the River Bend Nuclear Generatiry Station Attached is a copy of the exercise report of the February 26, 1986, partial participation exercise of the Inuisiana radiological energency preparedness plans site-specific to the River Bend Nuclear Generating Station. This exercise report was prepared by the Region VI staff of the Federal Emergency Manajement Agency.

There were no deficiencies identified durity this exercise. However, there are several areas requiring corrective actions and areas recomended for improvement. A draf t copy of the exercise report was prwided to the State of Iouisiana for review and coment. Based on their review, a schedule of corrective actions is included in this final exercise report.

Based on the results of this exercise, FEMA considers that offsite radiolo-gical energency preparedness is aiequate to provide reasonable arsurance that appropriate neasures can be taken offsite to protect the health and safety of the public livirg in the vicinity of the site in the event of a radiological energency. Therefore, the 44 CFR 350 approval granted in October 1985 will renain in effect.

If you srould have any questions, please contact Robert S. Wilkerson, Chief, Technological Hazards Division, at 646-2860.
