Dear Mr. Dircks,
This is an appeal pursuant to subsection (a)(6) of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) as amended, 5 U.S.C. E 552.
By letter dated August 20, 1985, the Nuclear Awareness Network (NAN) requested documents relating to:
"Any and all information within the Office of Investigation's cases regarding investigations which have occurred within the time frame of May 1, 1985 and the date of receipt of this letter."

m We defined the request to include reports, studies, test results, correspondence, memoranda, meeting notes, meeting minutes, work-ing papers, graphs, charts, diagrams, notes a'nd summaries of conversations and interviews, computer records, and any other forms of written communication including internal NRC staff.

Office of Analysis and Evaluation of Operational Data (AEOD); Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR); Office of Nuclear Regula-tory Research (Research); Office of Inspection and Enforcement (I&E); Generic Issues Branch of the Division of Safety Tech-nology; Operating Reactors Branches of the Division of Licensing; and the Office of Investigations (OI).
Nan received an acknowledgement of NRC receipt of the request j
on August 27, 1985.
As of today NAN has received no response.
This is taken as an effective denial of our FOIA request.
As provided under the FOIA, we expect response to this Adminis-trative appeal within twenty (20) working days.
