This refers to the inspection conducted by Mr. K. R. Naidu of this office on January 27-29, 1987, of your facility in Eden Prairie, Minnesota and to the discussinns of our findings with you and members of your staff at the conclu-sion of the inspection.
The purpose of this inspection was to evaluate the actions taken by Rosemount to correct intermittent failures of the pressure transmitters (which Rosemount refers to as " intermittent syndrome") which were documented in a letter to your customers dated July 24, 1986, and to review the results of tests performed by you on the three transmitters which failed at the Fermi Nuclear Power Plant.
Areas examined during the inspection and our findings are discussed in the enclosed report.
Within these areas, the inspection consisted of an examination of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.
During the inspection, the implementation of 10 CFR Part 21 reporting
- requirements was also reviewed. The results of the inspection indicate that your current procedure to implement the requirements of 10 CFR Part 21 does not require Rosemount to document evaluations of pntential problems for reportability. This letter acknowledges your letter dated February 5,1987, which states that you revised your 10 CFR Part 21 compliance procedure to require evaluations to be documented. We will review the inplementation of the revised procedure during our next inspection.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
