An issue concerning the load ifmitaticas of the turbine butiding cranes I
(Unit 1 and Unit 2) was raised as a result of the Readiness Review effort (Module 8 - Item 85-64R-05).
The review concluded that the maximum loading of each turbine butiding crane was 125 tons with only one crane pennitted in each uni t.
This conclusion was documented in the response to Item 85-64R-05 and provided to the NRC as part of Readiness Review Module 8.
This restriction has been re-evaluated and found to be overly conservative.
A re-analysis has been performed and shows that, in the event of a Safe Shutdown Carthquake (SSE), the turbir.e butiding will function as intended assuming both cranes are in one butiding with no lift loads.
The assumption of no lift loads is consistent with Bechtel general practice.
This practice is justified given the low probability of an SSE during lift time.
The FSAR will be revised to reflect the results of this analysis.
Pleast contact us if you have any questions.
Sincerely, (d.I.No E
