STAFF REQUIREMENT 3 - ORIEFING ON RULEMAKING FOR GENERALLY LICENSED DEVICES,9:30 A m., FRIDAY, APRIL 16,1999, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)
The Commission was briefed by the NRC staff on a proposed rulemaking for Generally Licensed Devices. The Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA), Structural Metals, Inc., American Iron
( and Steel Institute (AISI), Organization of Agreement States, and Conference of Radiation l Control Program Directors also participated in the briefing.
The Commisslon requested that the staff provide information on the Department of Energy's !
program for control, and accountability of devices containing radioactive meterials. The Commission will provide their views in voting on SECY-99-108, "Prooosed Rule: 10 CFR Parts -
30, 31, 32,170, and 171 - Requirements for Certain Generally Licensed Industrial Devices Containing Byproduct Material."
