Annual Environmental Operating Report Byron Station is submitting the Annual Environmental Operating Report as required by the Facility Operating License No. NPF-37, Appendix B, Section 5.4. This report addresses the period from January 1,1998 to December 31,1998. The objectives of the Environmental Protection Plan as stated in Appendix B, Section 1.0 have been met during this period.

There were no noncompliances to the Environmental Protection Plan; therefore, no corrective actions were required by Appendix B, Section 5.4,1(1). There were no changes in the station design or operation, or tests and experiments, which involved a potentially significant, unreviewed environmental question as defined in Section 3.1.

There were no non-routine reports submitted per Section 5.4.2. Byron Station received no noise complaints during 1998. The aerial photographic monitoring program, described in Section 4.2.1, was completed in 1993. The confirmatory sound survey requirements, described in Section 4.2.2, were completed in 1988.

In accordance with Regulatory Guide 10.1,18 copies are being submitted directly to l the Document Control Desk, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and one copy to the Region Ill office.
