neutron Howitzer from Trenton State College, Trenton, NJ.
The configuration of this device is:
Bard-Atomic Visiflux I Neutron Howitzer Model ND-327 239Pu-Be Source: Encapsulated 2.0 Curie This unit will be located in the Science Building, Room B3, on the Camden, New Jersey, campus.
It will replace a Californium-252 source presently located there which has decayed to an unusable level. The laboratory, which is approved for radioactive material use, also contains a cabinet X-ray machine.
The room is kept locked when not occupied. A senior faculty member in the Department of Chemistry is responsible for the room. He will also be respon-sible for the new Howitzer.
REHS routinely inspects the laboratory. We also supply appropriate personnel dosimeters to those using the device.
The use of the device is subject to the University Radiation Safety Program as described in the license conditions.
