This is in response to your February 18, 1987, letter requesting an extension in time for submitting DOE /NRC Forms 742 and 742c for the 6-month reporting period ending March 31, 1987, and for conducting the annual physical inventory scheduled for March 31, 1987.
Based on our review of your request and discussions between you and members of my staff during February and March 1987, we have determined that an extension in time to April 30, 1987, for submitting DOE /NRC Fonns 742 and 742c is not necessary. As stated in 74.13(a)(1), these reports are to be filed within 30 days after the end of the period covered.
Inasmuch as the regulations provide until April 30, 1987, for submitting the subject forms for the reporting period ending March 31, 1987, an extension is not required.
With regard to the annual physical inventory required by 70.51(d), we have determined that granting a 30-day extension will not adversely affect the connon defense and security nor the public health and safety, and is other-wise in the public interest.
Therefore, by means of this letter, approval is hereby granted to conduct the physical inventory scheduled for March 31, 1987, on or before April 30, 1987.
