STAFF REQUIREMENTS - PERIODIC BRIEFING BY THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON NUCLEAR WASTE, 11: 00 A.M., THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27, 1988, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, ONE WHITE FLINT NORTH, ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)
The Commission
- met with the Advisory Committee on Nuclear Waste (ACNW) to discusa nuclear waste related issues before the Commission.
Subsequent to the meeting, the Commission made the following requests:
1.
The Executive Director for Operations (EDO) and the ACNW should keep the Commission regularly and timely informed on the status and resolution of issues under discussion.
The Commission should be on distribution for all correspondence from the EDO staff in response to ACIfW and the ACRS questions and recommendations provided to '.he Commission.

The Office of the General Counsel and the Executive Director for Operations should submit a Commission paper which assesses the need for developing a mechanism for reporting nuclear waste mishaps, such as beyond the design basis failure of solidified low-level waste.

For those comments and recommendations made by the ACNW but not documented in previous letters to the Commission (e.g., on below regulatory concern and the Draft Generic Technical Position:
