Dear Dr. Grace:

This Special Report is submitted in accordance with Technical Specifications Section 3.7.10, " Fire Rated Assemblies." On March 6,1987, the plant was shutdown for the third refueling outage. In support of this outage, the fire barriers identified below will be inoperable for greater than seven (7) days.

The operability of fire detectors and establishment of fire watch patrols for the inoperable fire barriers was performed in compliance with Action Statement (a) of the above referenced Technical Specification.

Fire Doors PA-301 and RB-30S were opened on March 7 and 9, respectively, to facilitate personnel access to the Reactor Building. These barriers are expected to remain degraded for the duration of the outage.

Fire Door 18-107 was opened March 19 for maintenance activities on "C" Chiller. The door is expected to remain open for approximately three weeks until such maintenance is complete.

Should there be any questions, please call us at your convenience.
