Dear Mr. MacDonald:
Nucle er Assurance Corporation is a contractor for ').S. DOE to develop a 100-tta Rail / Barge Cask as part of the OCRWM program. This cask will be used for transport of spent PWR and BWR fuel, and will not be used for storage. The cask has been assigned the model name NAr,.CTC, for Combined Transport Cask.
The cask was introduced to the U.S. NRC on October 12, 1988, in a meeting at your offices in Washington.
The cask design la a relatively conventional steel / depleted Uranium / steel design with a solid neutron shield.
NAC requests a docket number for this cask, with the understanding that future meetings and review of the cask by the U.S. NRC will be billed i
to U.S. DOE.
We anticipate bimonthly meetings with the U.S. NRC as the development project progresses, with more frequent meetings as the project nears completion.
