This letter forwards informition which supplements the revised Power Ascension Program forwarded by Boston Edi:on Company letter 88-129, dated August 31, 1988.

The purpose of this supplement is to incorporate into the Power Ascension Program the weekly r,lant shutdown which has been planned to provide the opportunity for training and for performing test program identified adjustments or minor repairs to plant systems and components.

Plant management will assess the need for each w e k's shutdown as part of its routine weekly reviews of plant performance.

If the planned shutdown is not necessz.ry, the Plant Manager, with concurrence of tt.e Station Director, will present the facts supporting this conclusion to the Management Oversight and Assessment Team (MO&AT). The MO&AT chairman will have the authority to waive the weekly shutdown and authorize continued plant operation.
