Enclosed please find an application from General Electric Co.opany, Lighting Business Group, for a license to export a total of 500 kilograms of thorium oxide ii 'he form of a liquid slurry mixture to Brazil over a five-year period for use a, coating "t~ electrodes in mercury vapor lamps.

Befora taking action on this license application, we would appreciate your views, in accordance with established procedures, as to whether the proposed export meets the applicable criteria in the Atomic Energy Act as amended by tht Nuclear Nonproliferation Act of 1978.
