50-328 SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT (SQN) - CIARIFICATION OF THE DESIGN BASELINE AND VERIFICATION PROGRAM (DBVP) INTERFACE WITH THE EQUIPMENT QUALIFICATION (EQ)

PROGRAM

Reference:

TVA's letter to NRC dated September 30, 1988, "Sequoyah Nuclear Plant (SQN) - Clarification of the July 21, 1988 TVA/NRC Meeting on Phase II of the Design Baseline and Verification Program (DBVP)"

In response to the October 20, 1988 telephone conference call between TVA and NRC on the EQ program, TVA is providing clarification to the referenced letter.

The referenced letter was intended to state that the EQ program review of corrective actions resulting from discrepancios identified by DBVP was the same for units 1 and 2.

This misunderstanding resulted from revising the DBVP scope in the Nuclear Performance Plan, section III, for unit 1.

This.evision was made to shos that the EQ program was independent of DBVP and that DBVP did not duplicate tde efforts of the EQ program.

Corrective actJons required to resolve disetepancies identified in the system avaluatio7 by DSVP were reviewed for potential impacts on EQ program requirements by tho, EQ project as part of the plant design control proces.

Please direct questions concerning this issue to J. W. Proffitt at (615) 870-7461.

Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY M. AAd/'
