Dear Dr. Gilbert:
The Earth Sciences Branch would like to actively participate in the March 1986 Penrose Conference on the Southern Oklahoma Aulacogen. Our branch deals with geologic / seismic hazards and we have funded a number of research projects in Oklahoma. Therefore I would like to nominate Dr. Ernst Zurflueh to represent the Earth Sciences Branch at the Penrose Conference. Dr. Zurflueh is a geophysicist and he has served as project manager for several research
- contracts dealing with the Meers fault including trenching of the fault and low sun angle aerial photography of it. In addition he manages the NRC funded seismic network in Oklahoma. In summary, Dr. Zurflueh is conversant with the seismotectonics of Oklahoma and he can make many valuable contributions to the conference.
