SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-498/99-05; 50-499/99-05
Dear Mr. Cottle:
This refers to the inspection conducted on March 1 to 5,1999, at the South Texas Project
Electric Generating Station, Units 1 and 2 facilitie' Additionalinspection and review were
per4ormed in the regional office through March 11, i999. The enclosed report presents the
results of this inspection.
As indicated in the enclosed report, the e.ng!neering evaluations associated with 10 CFR 50.59
changes to the faci'.it/ to support replacement of the Unit 1 steam generators at the South
Texas project were adequate to assure that health and safety of the public is maintained.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its
enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
