The unit remained at 56% for the~ rest of the month. Estimated return to 90% is February 1,1987.

The reporting period began with.the. unit in Mode-_1 at 90%

power, (the administrative limit).

Power was reduced to 56%

for replacement of a section of the East Main Feed Pump.

Emergency Leak-off Line.

The reporting period ended with the unit in Mode 1 at 56% power.

Gross. electrical generation for the month of January was 699,790 MWH.

SUMMARY

1-30-87

'At 1530, started power reduction from 90%.

1-30-87 At 1909, stopped power reduction at approximately 68% due to RPI P-6 indicating 12 steps from demand counters.

1-30-87 At 2150, declared rod P-6 inoperable due to greater than 12 steps from demand counters as required by T/S 3.1.3.1.

Verified shutdown margin.

1-30-87 At 2303, stabalized power at 56%.

1-30-87 At 2317, declared rod P-6 operable, RPI P-6 inoperable as determined by flux map.

wasEfound to be defective'when the loss of detector-

. voltage bistable remained tripped during calibration.

The powerssupply was replaced, thefcalibration completed, and:a functional. test performed before:

returning N-42 to service.

I&C-2 While testing, the #6. combined' intermediate valve-(CIV) failed shut four minutes after.re-opening,.and could:

not be re-opened.

Closed contacts wereffound on a"de-energized mercury, wetted relay'(K3C77),. on 'the~ valve test logic card C-77.

The card was reseated,-the1 problem cleared and CIV #6-opened..The problem could not.be duplicated.-

Correct operation of the valve was verified before.
