1 of 1 MONTHLY OPERATING ACTIVITIES - JANUARY 1987 HIGHLIGHTS The unit operated the entire month at the nominal 80% power limit, (administrative 1y imposed to minimize steam generator tube degradation).

Gross electrical generation for the month of January was 668,210 MWH.

SUMMARY

There were no significant operating events during the month.

- 1 of 1 MAJOR SAFETY-RELATED MAINTENANCE JANUARY, 1987 I&C-1 FPI-240, #4 Steam. Generator Feedwater line pressure indicator was found reading 100'psig low.

A~ defective transducer and electronic circuit board.was found in pressure transmitter'FPI-240.

The board was-replaced, the. transmitter calibrated, and FPI-240 was returned to service.

Proper pressure indication was verified.

I&C-2 A defective limit-switch was found during valve testing-on control valve "B", which would not allow stop valve "B"

to close.

The limit switch was replaced and proper-valve operation verified.

M-1 A crack was found on a 14" Component Cooling Water.Line to the West Residual Heat Removal Heat Exchanger.

The CCW was isolated'from the Heat Exchanger and the crack repaired.

All components were tested and returned to service.

M-2 The gear drive speed increaser for the West Centrifugal l

Charging Pump was replaced due to excessive wear.

I After testing showed the new unit to be operating satisfactorily, the pump was returned to service.

M-3 The East Essential Service Water Pump was replaced after high vibrations revealed excessive wear.

pump tested satisfactorily and was returned to service.
