The Cormiission has reviewed the recomendations of the Advisory Comitte'e The on Nuclear haste (AChW) for rear term activities of the Committee.

attachtd ( Attachnent 1) list cf topics represents Comission guidance on those areas where the ACNW should focus its attention during the coming year. The Cce.ission recognizes that other items may ariso during the year which will be of equal importance to the ACNW and the Comission and, in these instarces the Cerrmittee shculd inform the Commission of its intent tc review any additional issues. The attached list of near-term h activities has not been priuritized and we expect the level of effort for 8 each issue will vary, The Ccmissier recuests the AChW to becerre involved in waste management issues early and in a timely fashion, thereby enabling the Comittee to provice corntents to the Cornission in time for needed decisions. i The Ccenission supports ACNW 6ttendance at major treetings arranged by the NRC staff for the ir.-depth review of key technical issues. Finally, the Comission fuliy supports efforts of the ACNW to develop close ties with the Comissicrers' staffs to keep the Comission fully informed of your Committee's effort and direction.
