STAFF REQUIREMENTS - SECY-99-017 - PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO 10 CFR 50.55a This is to advise you that the Commission has not objected to the staff's continued preparation of proposed amendments to 10 CFR 50.55a to revise the requirements for updating inservice inspection (ISI) and inservice testing (IST) programs for nuclear powu plant components.
When the staff presents the proposed final rule for Commissia approval, staff should include I
alternative implementation options as well as its recommended option, the bases for the recommendations, and a discussion of the pros and cons associated with each of the options.
The impacts (safety, effectiveness, and regulatory benefits and burdens to licensees, NRC and other affected entities such as vendors) of the proposed changes to 10 CFR 50.55a should be clearly addressed.
