Thank you for your letter of June 7,1985, in response to our letter dated May 13, 1985. We have reviewed your replies and find they are responsive to the concerns raised in cur Notice of Violation /Nonconformance.
With regard to Item D in the Notice of Nonconformance, it should be noted that the micrometer measurements described in APCo specification 1216 dated July 5, 1978 appear to be technically adequate for measurement of the silver plate thickness. 'However, if APCo wishes to have an independent verification performed periodically as de:cribed in the QA manual, it should be done more often than 11.5 years.
All correspondence between APCo and the NRC will be sent to the Public Document Room. A description of the severity categories for " Violations" is contained in Supplement VII of Appendix C to 10 CFR Part 2 " Rules of Practice for Domestic Licensing Proceedings." A copy of the Code of Federal Regulations can be obtained from:
Superintendent of Documents Government Printing Office Washington, DC 20402 We have no further questions at this time and will review the implementation of your corrective actions during a future inspection to determine that full compliance has been achieved and will be maintained.
