The receipt of the enc'.osed Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL)
F letter report "Spent Fuel H9ating Analysis (SFHA) Code" completes a LLNL task to develop a calcula,1onal methodology for determining fuel cladding temperature for dry spent fuel storage conditions. The results of this work will be incorporated in a Dry Spent Fuel Storage Cask Standard Review Plan, j
which will be published as a NUREG report. This plan, which is also under i
development at LLNL. is in support of NRC rulemaking for a certified dry spent d
fuel storage cask.
This rulemaking has been initiated in response to Congress's instruction to NRC in Sections 133 and 218(a) of the Nuclear Waste i
t Policy Act of 1982.
