!omasB.Kellam, Chief MEMORANDUM FOR:

Th Telecommunications Branch Division of Facilities and Operations Support Office of Administration

'FROM:

Douglas M. Collins, Chief Emergency Preparedness and Radiological Protection Branch Division of Radiation Safety and Safeguards

SUBJECT:

RADIO COMMUNICATIONS This memorandum has been written to clarify Region II's understanding of the current requirements for implementation of the BIFC program at Region II sites.

The large amount of material generated by the BIFC program has resulted in some confusion as to what is the most current information.

Region II has begun implementation of the BIFC program using your memorandum of July 19, 1985. The hurricane sites have been requested to obtain estimates for installation of BIFC equipment as described in this memorandum.

During the recent counterpart meeting in Chicago, discussion among the EPCs appeared to indicate that this July 19, 1985 memorandum is no longer current.

Region II, therefore, formally requests clarification on the validity of the July 19, 1985 memorandum, prior to making written request from the remaining licensees on BIFC installation costs.
