August 4, 1986 EN 86-59 0FFICE OF INSPECTION AND ENFORCEMENT NOTIFICATION OF SIGNIFICANT ENFORCEMENT ACTION Licensee:
Florida Power and Light Company St. Lucie Docket Nos. 50-335, 50-389
Subject:
PROPOSED IMPOSITION OF CIVIL PENALTIES - $25,000 This is to inform the Commission that a Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penalties in the amount of Twenty-five Thousand Dollars
($25,000) will be issued on or about August 7,1986 to Florida Power and Light Company for their St. Lucie facility. This action is based on two violations.
One involved the failure to provide an adequate barrier to protect vital equipment. The other violation involved inadequate security inspections.
It should be noted that the licensee has not been specifically informed of the enforcement action. The Regional Administrator has been authorized by the Director, Office of Inspection and Enforcement, to sign this action. The schedule of issuance and notification is:
Mailing of Notice August 7, 1986 Telephone Notification of Licensee August 7, 1986 A news release has been prepared and will be issued after the licensee receives the Notice. The State of Florida will be notified.
The licensee has thirty days from the date of the Notice in which to respond.
Following NRC evaluation of the response, the civil penalty may be remitted, mitigated, or imposed by Order.
