Dear Mrs. Bennington:

This is to inform you that the MIT Nuclear Reactor Laborator / will be making two shipments of spent fuel from Cambridge, MA to Westinghouse - Savannah River Co. in Aiken, South Carolina using the route described in the enclosure. The fuel was used in the MIT Research Reactor and had an original enrichment of 93%.

This notification is furnished in compliance with NRC regulations of 10 CFR 73.

A description of shipment as required by the U.S. Department of Transportation in 49 CFR 173.202 and 172.203(d)is also enclosed. Armed escorts will be provided through cities as required and states' governors' designees are being notified.
