Docket Nos. 50-327 Tennessee Valley Authority

)

50-328 SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT (SQN) - MOLDED-CASE CIRCUII BREAKERS - TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION INTERPRETATION

Reference:

TVA letter to NRC dated December 29, 1986, "Sequoyah Nuclear Plant - Molded Case Circuit Breakers - Technical Specification Interpretation" In the referenced letter, TVA discussed a proposed technical specification interpretation regarding molded-case circuit breaker testing. The calculation prepared to support the interpretation identified a smaller number of molded-case circuit breakers, for which testing in the overcurrent trip range could be avoided, than originally thought could be demonstrated by analyses.

To minimize administrative details associated with segregating such a small number of breakers f rom the test program, TVA lecided to test all breakers provided with separate overcurrent and instantaneous trip features to verify operability of bsth features.

In the referenced letter TVA committed to advise NRC within six months after l

restart of SQN unit 2 of any intent to further pursue this issue. TVA does not intend to pursue this issue further.

t Please direct questions concerning this issue to M. J. Burzynski at (615) 870-6172.

Very truly yours, f
