E.1.0 E AODucr!ON This procedure describes the work done by the coil set-ting team. This work involves the following tasks:

1. Preparation,
2. Coil setting,
3. Cable and hose connections,
4. Inspection, and

$. Removal.

E.2.0 PR E PA RATIO N The following activities shall be performed before entering the drywellt

1. Check coil identification numbee as spectf Led by NUTECH Shift Supervisor.
2. Obtain necessary bolting hardware and tools (see Table E-1 for suggested tools). .
3. Check that electrical connections are flat and clean.
4. Check that hose clamps are tight.

I 5. Check that hoses are not seriously cracked or burned causing leaks.

6. Remove all loose temporary tags and wire from coil I which might come in contact with copper. 'M y
7. Check that bolt holes are clean and that bolt 3 can pass through easily.
8. Check that coil half-split sections mate properly.
9. Check that power connection bus bars are of type ., ,

req ui red for particular weld interf erences. gi'

10. Adjust all jacking bolt lengths to approxinately , l 1/2" from the inner surface of the coil. ~

I i

11. For vertical coil orientations, prepare ropes and 11f ting hand-blocks (hangers).

E.3.0 INIT!AL COfL SETTING The coils are to be placed on the subject pipe such that a uniform heat distributior, as indicated by thermo-I couple da ta, can be ach ieved in the region of interest during regular heatinq. This can be accomplished with a minimum o' coil position adjustments if the initial coil I plac e ment is performed properly. The initial coil placement shall be based on re comme nda t ion from NUTECH Shift Supervisor The following activities shall be performed to set the coll:

1. Set the two half-split coil sections on the weld with the coil pipe end toward the pipe, valve end towa rd the valve, elbow end toward the elbow, etc.
a. Vertical type setting (Figure E-1):

I Confirm the specified direction for a matchup between the coil and pipe. Tie two ropes to a half-split coil section. Hang up the nalf-split coil sections with a hanger on a suita=

ble structure. Adjust both half-split sec-tions to the coil setting position.

b. horizontal type setting (Figure E-2):

Confirm the specified direction according to a matchup between the coil and pipe. Lift the I half-split coil section by two team members.

Mount the two, half-split coil sections.

I 2. Match the two, half-split sections of the coil (Figure E-3).

Put bolts into the bolt holes at both coil ends and I 3.

tighten them lightly (without using wrenches).

4. The above-mentioned tasks shorld be done without i e
a. Hitting or dropping the coils.

6. Place bolts in al1 bolt holes and tighten. The team leader shoulet check the tightness of each bolt '

using a wrench.

7 Adjust the coil position to satisfy the tolerances detailed in the CSIS.

WARNING E*!SURE THAT CO[L JACK!NG BOLTS ARE NCT CLAMPED I CXCESSIVEl,Y IN THE DIAGONAL POSITIONS (RELEASE ALL BOLTS WHICH ARE NOT NECESSARY TO OBTAIN PROPER COIL CLEARANCC). IF THIS IS NOT DONE, THE CUIDE STRUC-I TURE WILL BREAK AS A RESULT OF THERMAL EXPANSION OF THE PIPE DURING IHSI HEATING.

1 E.4.0 CABLE AND HOSE CONNECTION After receiving the IHS! Shift Supervisor's instruction,

  • perform the following. This work should be done shortly I before IHSI heating.

E.4.1 Power Cable Connection

a. Check the polarity and corresponding work station identifleation.

I

b. Connect the two cables to each terminal of the coil with bolts (see Figure E-4). Insure that the contact surfaces have been cleaned.

WARNING DO NOT MIX THE POLARITY.

I ENSURE THE TWO PAINTED BLACK LEADS ARE ATTACHED TO THE SAME TERMINAL AD/.PTER AND THE TWO RED PAINTED LEADS ARE ATTACHED TO THE OTHER TERMINAL ADAPTER.

c. Bundle the flexible cable tightly with ropes. ..
d. Hang the water-cooled cables with ropes and support I them with wooden material to keep the cables more than eight inches away from any metallic body (conduit, structure, piping, etc.).

a E.4.2 Water Hose Connect ion Perf orm the following:

a. Clean the connecting surface of the coupler, especially on the male side,
b. Connect couplers of the header hoses with couplers of the coil and flexible cable (see Figure E ').

Hang the hoses with ropes so that couplers do not I c.

come in direct contact with the coil (copper pipes, bolts, and terminals, etc. ) .

E.5.0 INSPECTION Coil setting inspection shall include the following:

1. Check that coil is oriented correctly on pipe.
2. Check that all coil assembly bolts are tight.
3. Check that washers are separated by more than 1/16*.
4. Check that power cable connection are bolted tightly to bus bars and paired black / black and r red / red.
5. Check that water cooled power cables are not touching any metal and do not form a loop.
6. Check heat site area for flammable materials.

I 7. Check that coil does not touch any adjacent structures.

Check that heat site switch box le, in area and that

flashing red light is positioned properly.

E.G.0 ADJUSTM ENTS 5

Because of anomaltes in material thickness, surface contours, and/or other physical factors indicated by >

thermocouple readings obtained during test heating, the coil may require position adjustments. These adjustments shall be made under the direction of the Pcwer Supply Operator. ,

i E.7.0 REMOVAL Removal of the coil is performed by the coil setting )

team after IHSI hea*ing is completed. Coil removal work should be performed in the reverse order of coil  ;

setting. Care should be taken not to drop the coil, flow headers, power cables, and water hose fittings.

d The coil shall be removed from the drywell on the instructions of the NUTECH Shift Supervisor.
