Dear Senator:

l Millstone 3 recently has reopened, and thatjust puts our l very quaint and small town back in danger. Unit 3 was shut '

down for 2 years because it had 1200 outstanding safety  ;

violadons and after a 1 billion-dollar overhaul to get the  !

reactor back on line, it has had 5 cmcrgency shut downs in only 5 months. Millstone has experienced numerous valve problems, and it was a valve problem that cau -# the 3-Mile Island accident. Last but definitely not leat c%,crts have testified that there is a 45% chance ofa meltdown occurringin an operating U.S. reactor. hose are four terrift: reasons for

. why many loyal Ieng Island and I think that Millitone 3 should be shut down.

I have conclusive evidence that Millstone 3 is a time bomb waldng to explode. After 1200 outstanding saft.ty j violations, a i blillon-dollar overhaul couldn't keep it safe.

~

Even after 1 billion - dollars it has had 5 cmcrgency shutdowns since it reopened. One billion dollars couldn't help it. If they insist on having a nuclear power plant they could have taken that money and built a new one.

And among the many problems Millstone has had, the scariest has been their numerous valve problems. he 3-Mile Island accident was caused by a valve problem. So ifit could happen to them it could happen to nsjust as casily. Plus even ifa valve problem doesn't make Millstone blow, experts have testified that any Nuclear Reactar in the U.S., has a 45% chance ofsomehow malfunctioning.
