Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 Steam Generator Tube Plugging Gentlemen:
As a result of additional steam generator tube plugging during our current refueling outage, the number of plugged tubes has exceeded 1% in one of the steam generators. The BV-1 UFSAR limit on steam generator tube plugging is currently 1% uniform.
In order to support the Beaver Valley Unit 1 plant return to power operation, an evaluation has been performed for an assumed plugging level of 2.5% in each steam generator.
This evaluation has been reviewed by the BV-1 Onsite Safety
. Committee and Offsite Review Committee and a 50,59 review has been performed to determine that no unreviewed safety question exists.
Based on the evaluation results, it is concluded that there is no safety problem associated with returning Beaver Valley Unit 1 to full power operation with as much as a 2.5% level of steam generator tube plugging.
