Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No. 1 Docket No. 50-334, License No. DPR-66 Steam Generator Tube Plugging Gentlemen:
As a
result of additional steam generator tube plugging during our current refueling
- outage, the number of plugged tubes has exceeded 1%
in one of the steam generators.
The BV-1 UFSAR limit on steam generator tube plugging is currently 1% uniform.
In order to support the Beaver Valley Unit 1 plant return to power operation, an evaluation has been performed for an assumed plugging level of 2.5% in each steam generator.
This evaluation has been reviewed by the BV-1 Onsite Safety Committee and Offsite Review Committee and a 50,59 review has been performed to determine that no unreviewed safety question exists.
Based on the evaluation
- results, it is concluded that there is no safety problem associated with returning Beaver Valley Unit 1 to full power operation with as much as a 2.5% level of steam generator tube plugging.
