Three Mile Island Nuclear Station Unit 1 (TMI-1)
Operating License Ho. DPR-50 Docket No. 50-289 Post Eddy Current Inspection Report Following the completion of the Eddy Current Inspection of TMI-l A and B steam generator tubes, Technical Inspection 4.19.5a requires a report to be submitted of the number of tubes repaired or removed from service.
During the SM eddy current outage, no tubes were repaired by the kinetic expansion process in either steam generator.
A total of 25 tubes were removed from service by plugging; 10 tubes in Steam Generator A and 15 tubes in Steam Generator B.
Of these, 5 tubes in Steam Generator A and 9 tubes in Steam Generator B had indications exceeding the repair limits of Technical Specification 4.19.4.a.6.
The remaining tubes were plugged for conservatism based on engineering judgement. Tube plugging was completed on April 18, 1986 A total cf 1227 tubes have been removed from service since fabrication in Steam Generator A.
In Steam Generator B, a total of 340 tubes have been removed from service.
This letter fulfills the requirement of Technical Specification 4.19.5a.
