Dear Mr. MacDonald:
With reference to our application dated 12 August 1985 requesting an amendment to Certificate of Compliance Number 9006 for the Model AI 500 SU Package, and with reference to your letter of 27 January 1986, we are providing the additional information you requested.
The drawirgs of the Model AI 500.SU and its lock box have been revised to more clearly show the various components of the lock mechanism in both the locked and unlocked position.
Additional changes have been made to render the drawings more ledgible.
An additional series of free fall and puncture tests of the Model AI 500 SU equipped with the modified lock box was conducted. The package was twice dropped from the heicht of 30 feet ' arid' was subjectdd to the conditions of the puncture test three times.
As a result of these tests, there was no impairment of any design or safety features of thes package, no structural damage to the locking assembly, no release of package contents, and no loss of shielding efficiency.
The page numbering of the operating. procedures of Section 7 have been corrected as requested.
