Dear Mr. Mahoney,
This responds to your February 11,1998, letter requesting the name of a government official with authority to approve testing of a radioactive waste volume reduction plasma gun on actual radioactive waste. In March 1997, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) entered into an Agreement which discontinued NRC authority to regulate the use of certain radioactive materials and the Commonwealth ascumed that authority.
