Dear Mr. Crow:

Based upon discussions with NRC staff personnel from Headquarters and Region 1

held subsequent to the receipt of the reference

letter, B&W has re-evaluated the time that will be required to prepare an adequate license renewal application.

Therefore, B&W finds it necessary to request an extension of the expiration date no earlier than March 31, 1987 or a later date that would permit your staff sufficient time to take action on the application.

This proposed date would enable B&W to prepare and submit a

timely application in the proper form to maintain the license in accordance with 10 CFR 70.33.
