Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Docket No. "')-416 License No. NPF-29 Additional lnformation Requested During a Phone Call With the NRC on November 17,1997 Related to Emergency Plan Charige 28-00195, GTC-97/00195 RefereneJ:
GN90-97/00086 dated September 6,1997 from EOl to NRC, Additional Informatbn Requested During a Meeting With NRC July 10,1997 Related to Emergency Plan Chr.nge 28-00195 GNRO 97/00118 Gentlemen:
As requested in a telephone call with the NRC staff on Novembcr 17,1997, we are supplying additionalinformation on implementation of Table 5-1 of the Emergency Plan (Attachments 1 and 2). The information contained in these Attachm6nts provides the result of a detailed review of how Grand Gulf Emergency Plan Table 5-1 staffing levels are actually implemented at Grand Gulf and a compar; son of actual staffing levels versus Table 5-1 requirements as of October 20,1997, Two ^.ttachments are included with this letter. Attachment 1, GG FSAR Table 5-1 Lt Staffing and Augmentation Capabilitif.s as of October 20,1997, is a reflection of the existing Grand Gulf Emergency Plan Table 5-1 and states how we implement Table 5-1. Attachment 2, ERO Staffing Requirements as of October 20, 1997, is also a reflection of the existing Grand Gulf Emergency Plan Table 5-1, however, it includes two additional columns. The first column is additional f
personnel procedurally designated as mirimum staffing for facilities with 60 minute g
response times. The second column is additional personnel responding but are
[AS-
)I not needed to activate the facilities; the expectation is that these personnel would respond within approximately two hours. Both columns (1 & 2) correlate to Table 5-1 personnel; if the person is listed to the right of the associated major functional area, that person is capable of augmenting that function. It should t,e notea that y c. c, m o n 7 -gg
t December 9, 1997 GNRO-97/00118
'Page 2 of 2 theia are additional personnel, who respond as part of the overall ERO response.
l These additional personnel are not listed in Attmhment 2 because their designated ERO functions do not correlate with the major functional areas listed in Table 51 i
of the Emergency Plan.
We would be happy to further discuss these issues upon receipt o' this letter.
Please feel free to contact Mr. Kenneth Hughey at (601) 437-6470.
l We appreciate the cooperation and attention of the Staff on this matter.
Yours truly, h
t WKH/MJL i
