50-354 Request for Change to Technical Specifications (TS)

Changes to Accelerated Testing /Special Reporting Requirements per Generic Letter (GL) 94-01 -- LCR H98-11 On December 16, 1998, Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G) submitted to the U.S.

Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) a request for a revision to HC TSs.

Specifically, the requested changes propose to replace the i

accelerated testing requirements of TS Table 4.8.1.1.2-1 o

with an Emergency Diesel Generator (EDG) performance monitoring program and to delete the TS 4.8.1.1.3 requirement to submit a 30-day report for diesel failures.

However, such failures will still be reported via other reporting mechanisms.

The requested changes are in accordance with the requirements of the Maintenance Rule (10 CFR 50.65), NRC's Generic Letter 94-01, and NRC's Regulatory Guide 1.160 (Revision 2).

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJ DEP) Bureau of Nuclear Engineering (BNE) has reviewed the change request per. requirements of 10 CFR 50.91(b) and has no comments.
