Dear Mr. Cottle:

From January 4-7,1999, a routine solid radioactive waste management program and
radioactive waste / materials transportation program inspection was conducted at your South
Texas Project Electric Generating Station, Units 1 and 2 facilities. The enclosed report
presents the results of this inspection.
Overall, the inspection verified that you had implemented effective solid radioactive waste
management and radioactive waste / materials transportation programs.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its

enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
Should you have any questions concerning this inspection, we will be pleased to discuss them
with you.
