By letter dated December 15,1997, Southem Nuclear Operating Company (SNC) requested approval to include Class MC components in its attemative to use ASME Code Section XI Code
- Case N-532 dated December 12,1994, entitled "Altemative Requirements to Repair and Replacement Documentation Requirements and Inservice Summary Report Preparation and Submissions Required by IWA-4000 and IWA-6000,Section XI, Division 1, "for Edwin 1. Hatch Nuclear Plant (Hatch), Units 1 and 2.
- SNC's attemative to use Code Case N-532 contained in Request for Relief No. RR-14, Revision 0, was authorized pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(a)(3)(1) in NRC's Safety Evaluation
- dated June 16.1997.- Revision 1 of Request for Relief RR-14 was not reviewed by the NRC because it was only an administrative revision to eflect the transfer of the license for Hatch, Units 1 and 2, from Georgia Power Company to Southem Nuclear Operating Company, authorized by the NRC en March 17,1997.
Code Case N-532 is an attemative requirstnent to repair and replacement documentation requirements and inservice summary report preparation and submission as required by IWA-4000 and IWA-6000,Section XI, Division _1. ASME Code Section XI, Paragraph IWA-6220 requires that SNC prepare reports using NIS-1, Owner's Report forinservice Inspections, and NIS-2, Owner's Report Ibr Repair or Replacements; IWA-6230 requires that these reports be filed with the enforcement and regulatory authorities having jurisdiction at the plant site within 90 days of the completion of the inservice inspection conducted during each refueling outage Paragraph 2(c) of Code Case N-532 refers to IWB-3000 (Class 1), IWC-3000 (Class 2),
IWD 3000 (Class 3), IWE-3000 (Class MC), IWF-3000 (Class MC), and IWL-3000 (Class CC) as the acceptance criteria for these classifications.
Because, as authorized on June 16,1997, Code Case N-532 includes provisions for Class MC components, no revision to Request for Relief No. RR-14 to include Class MC components is necessary, g

Sumner, Jr. Therefore, Request for Relief No. RR-14 Revision 0, remains authorized pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(a)(3)(i) for the current interval or until such time as the Code Case is published in a future revision of Regulatory Guide 1.147. ' At that time, if SNC intends to continue to implement this Code Case, SNC is to follow all provisions in Code Case N-532 with limitations issued in Regulatory Guide 1.147, if any.
