Dear Mr. Holloway:
The purpose of this letter is to request additional information concerning your invoice E 0555.
Kansas Gas and Electric Company (KG6E) is paying the invoice under separate cover but reserves the right to dispute the amount at a later date if the requested inf ormation does not support the billing.
Wolf Creek Generating Station (the plant to which Invoice E 0555 applies) and the Ca llawa y Pla nt are SNUPPS plants which utilize a standard design applicable to both plants.
The majority of the NRC reviews of the design and licensing issues we re accomplishe d in a manner such that one re view applied to both plants. The re f ore, many of the required reviews should have been accomplished with approximately one half the normal NRC resources when accounted for on a per plant basis.
Based upon the two Wolf Creek invoices re ce i ve d thus far (References 1 & 2),
it would appear that Wolf Creek was billed f or the entire standardized review costs ra t he r than these costs being split between Wolf Creek and the Callaway Plant.
KG&E requests information concerning the mthods used by the NRC to assure that coste incurred f rom the review of standard design and licensing issues were divided between the two SNUPPS plants.
