Dear Dr. Bonaca:
On behalf of the Commission, I am pleased to offer you an appointment to a four-year term on the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS), As you know, the ACRS advises the Commission on nuclear fuel behavior, safety analysis, probabilistic risk assessment (PRA), emergency planning, and nuclear safety issues, including plant operations.
The Commission offers this appointment based on the understanding that you will not advise the ACRS on any particular matter that would directly and predictably affect the financialinterests of the entities listed in the recent memorandum to you from the Office of the General Counsel.
Although we will make an effort to minimize our demands on your time, we recognize that service on the Committee will entail some sacrifices on your part. We appreciate your willingness to give your time and energy to an effort that is so important to the future progress of the Nation's nuc! ear regulatory program.
