' Committee To Review Generic Requirements i

SUBJECT:

CRGR QUARTERLY AGENDA PLANNING l

One way the Committee To Review Generic Requirements (CRGR) can be responsive in I

supporting staff's schedule commitments is by ensuring timely CRGR review and endorsement 1

of proposed generic actions. An essential step to accomplish this is by queuing review items for upcoming Committee meetings and ensuring that we have adsquate CRGR staff resources. It would be most helpful if the program offices would provide, on a quarterly basis, a list of topics to be submitted for CRGR review. Furthermore, it is essential that the staff i

submit complete proposals, with due concurrences, 3 weeks before the projected CRGR,

meeting date; the CRGR meetings are usually held on the second and the fourth Tuesday of i

every month. It is imperative that the incoming review requests meet the CRGR Charter i

requirements; e.g., those related to the contents of the review packages, and responses to the CRGR Charter questions. For resource-intensive efforts, such as rulemakings, consistent with the Commission direction, the Committee encnurages a preliminary review of the rulemaking L

plans. The staff will then have the benefit of having significant policy concems and backfit-related issues identified at an early stage.

j Within 2 weeks from the date of this memorandum, please provide a list of staff proposals which are likely candidates for CRGR review between now and April 30,1999. For each item, i

please include the anticipated time-frame of the requested review, priority, if any, and whether i

it is on the Chairman's Tasking Memorandum. Additionally, provide the name of the -

)

sponsoring Division Director and the staff contact for each item.

If you have any questions regarding this request, please contact Raji Tripathi of the CRGR staff at 415-7584.
