Dear Sir:
in your letter dated September 4,1997, you provided approval of License Change Application ECR 96-00062 (Amendment Nos. 220 and 223). This change revised Technical Specifications =
(TS) Surveillance Requirement 3.6.1.3.16 concoming the replacement frequency of the Primery Containmord purge and exhaust valve inflatable seats. In your safety evaluation for Amendment -
Nos. 220 and 223, you stated that "the licensee is not proposing any change to the existing requirements cordained in the TSs for the leak testing of the primary containment purge and vent -
valves por 10 CFR 50, Appendix J, which requires Type C tests to be " performed during each reactor shutdown for refueling but in no case at intervals greater than 2 years.** The purpose of this letter is to clarify that Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station, Units 2 and 3 conforms with 10 CFR 50, Appendix J, Option B, as approved in your safety evaluation report dated June 18,1996 (AmerWment Nos. 214 and 219). Accordin0ly. Type C tests for Primary Containment purge and exhaust elves are performed on an interval not to exceed 30 months, as discussed in Re0ulato.y Guide 1.163, ' Performance Based Containment Leak-Test Program."
