Per the requirements set forth in the PECO Energy, Limerick Generating Station's Air Operating Permit Number OP-46-0038,1

The "A" Auxthary Boiler, Operatmg Source Number OAS502, was found on January 12 to have a nulfnae'ioning opacity I

- monitor. The boiler was shynag annual combustion tuning and scheduled maintenance. Notification of the opacity monitor nuirurr*ian was made by phone to the PaDEP bihaaet Region Air Quality Division on January 13.

The "B" Auxiliary Boiler, Operating Source Number OBS502, was found on January 13 to have a malfunctioning opacity ,

monitor. The boiler was undergoing annual combustion tuning and scheduled maintenance An additional notification was made i by phone to the PaDEP Southeast Region Air Quality Division on January 13.  :

l The "C" Auxiliary Boiler, Operatmg Source Number OCS502, is currendy in stand-by mode and is assumed to hase a similar

  • failure. The hoiler is expected to begin annual combustion tuning on January 14. Tic opacity monitor was not functioning upon boiler start-up on January 14. ,

Each boiler is equipped with one opacity monitor. All three monitors are supplied by a single, common power supply. A step-  ;

- down (110 volt to 30 volt) transformer within this power supply unit gradually failed causing tie separate failures in tie "A", and the "B", and the "C" opacity monitors. Replacement parts were delivered to the Station the evening of Friday, January 11 Tbc /

power supply was replaced on Saturday, January 16. The units were tested and returned to satisfactory operation by noon on 1 Sunday, January 17, Ol Boders were operated at 20% capacity or held in stand-by mode (exwpt during timing operations) widle tie opacity monitoring j system was out of sersice. 7 '
