Northem States Power Company Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant 2007 West Hwy 75 Monticello, Minnetola 65362 9637 February 3,1998 US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control Desk Washington, DC 20555 MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT Docket No. 50 263 License No. DPR 22 NSP Commitment to include Reactor Core and Isolation Cooling (RCIC) System and High Pressure Coolant injection (HPCI) System Low Steam Line Pressure Isolation Signals in the Monticello Technical Specifications NSP and the staff recently discussed the staff's concerns in regard to the licensing and design basis of the subject isolation signals. NSP agrees that it would be prudent to incorporate these signals into the Monticello Technical Specifications, it was also determined that this incorporation would be accomplished under NSP's existing technical specification improvement program. Staff was notified of NSP's intention to commit to this action. Accordingly, NSP hereby makes the following commitment.
As part of Monticello's Improved Technical Specification (ITS) program which was described to the staff by letter dated September 26,1997, NSP will include the 9ppropriate changes necessary to incorporate the Reactor Core and Isolation Cooling (RCIC) System and High Pressure Coolant injection (HPCI) System Low Steam Line Pressure Isolation Signals into the technical specifications.
