U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION, REGION V , r$5 1450 MARIA LANE, SUITE 210 WALNUT CREEK, CA 94596 'S For some time now security site managers and senior security management with nuclear responsibilities from Region V, have been discussing the need for a formal association. The purpose of this association would be to improve the communication process between the security representatives and to share common experiences and solutions to problems providing a nuclear security program to our respective nuclear generating stations.

The District has agreed to host the first meeting of the

" Western Nuclear Security Association (WNSA)" on July 23 and 24, 1986. The meeting will be held at the Clarion Hotel, 700 Sixteenth Street in Sacramento. We have set aside 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on July 24 to allow representatives from your Safeguards Branch to attend and discuss items of mutual interest. If possible, we would like to see Mr. Montgomery l and Mr. Schuster attend. A copy of our proposed agenda is enclosed.

We anticipate that most, if not all of the nuclear utilities within Region V, will have two representatives attending.

Since this meeting will be dealing almost exclusively with Safeguards type information, we do not intend to admit members of the public or the press.
